Remarks & Notes
In May 1974, U23C 7514 eases off the Fierro Industrial Spur and onto the Santa Rita District main at Hanover Junction. The track leading off to the right is the branch to the Kennecott open pit copper mine at Santa Rita. The roadswitcher is returning from the UV Industries mine at Fierro and is heading for Hurley. The Fierro spur has since been abandoned. (This photo and more Hurley-area images can be found in our book Tumbleweeds and Fast Freights (McMillan Publications.)
