Quite the overhang! Slowly moving northbound through Denver on the Joint Line on April 15, 2005, is a large 745-ton Belleli vessel being shipped from Houston, Texas, to Denver, Colorado, using the “world’s largest railroad car,” Schnabel CEBX No. 800. The train is routed up the middle track for clearance reasons, as can be seen by the load shifting over to the near track on this particular curve that is fairly broad. Obviously, no other trains could pass while this special train threaded through the multiple curves through downtown Denver. The huge load is going to a Commerce City oil refinery, and is specially-powered by brand new General Electric ES44DC No. 7687. Since this time, in mid-2012, Westinghouse has renumbered this car from CEBX 800 to WECX 800 and has added another Kasgro-built twin car to the Schnabel fleet, WECX 801, which now takes the title of largest railcar in the world.
