Amtrak train #1, the westbound Sunset Limited, arrived in Los Angeles, California, at 4:45 am - 50 minutes ahead of schedule! (Yes, its schedule is padded that much.) An hour and a half later, the train is still sitting in Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal, although it will be backing out soon to head over to the yard for servicing. Coupled behind lead engine 9 is 42, the Amtrak P42Dc painted to honor America's military service members.
