| In 2012 a batch of 30 diesel and three electric ex-Queensland Railways locomotives was imported into South Africa from Australia by three South African companies - AR&TS, RRL Grindrod and SAFLog. One of 7 class 2600 Goninan/GE U22C's (rebuilt as C22-MMi) that went to AR&TS, # 2601 has been leased to Sheltam to supplement their fleet on the Gold One system near Randfontein (previously Rand Uranium) and is seen here at Cooke 1 shaft. The loco was overhauled in the AR&TS Pretoria workshops and painted in their blue livery, but has not yet received the characteristic white striping and lettering. |
