Remarks & Notes |
Climax No.1694 climbs through the forest between Belgrave and Menzies Creek, near the site of the landslide which closed the line to regular services in 1953. This was the Climax's official recommissioning run after a lengthy overhaul which had seen it out of service for around 10 years. 1694 spent it's working life on the Tyers Valley Tramway in Victoria's Gippsland District until the line closed in 1949. It was the last Climax loco ever built, the only one built to 2'6" gauge, and is now the only operational Climax outside North America. |
