Saturday was a troublesome day for train traffic up on the mountain. Earlier, a southbound (uphill) Q train stalled on the mainline at this location due to the failure of one of its DPUs. It took around five hours or so to figure a solution to get it on the move again. In the meantime a northbound (downhill) Z was occupying the siding at Fields, and so Amtrak had to hold above Fields for everything to clear out before it could proceed again by 16:00pm, about three hours behind schedule.
