Lackawanna heritage on the Boonton Line... The NS Dover-based H02 local is appropriately led by the Lackawanna heritage unit on a beautiful late-summer day. The local is seen passing the historic Mountain Lakes station, built by the Lackawanna in 1912 (and now occupied by a restaurant). NS 1074 is in transit to the United Railroad Historical Society's Transportation Heritage Festival in Boonton, NJ on the coming weekend, providing a rare opportunity to catch this unit on "home" rails. Special thanks go to the Station at Mountain Lakes Restaurant whose employees cooperated with an impromptu gathering of railfans to move vehicles and other obstructions, making this shot possible.
