Ka 942 hauls Railway Enthusiasts' Society excursion from Auckland to New Plymouth, seen here on the 1 in 35 (nearly 3%) Westmere bank just outside Wanganui. Built in NZ by Hillside and assembled at Hutt workshops this 146 ton loco was converted to oil in 1948. Saved from being scrapped in 1972, it was fully restored with streamline shroud c.1989 at Glenbrook Vintage Railway.
