Making the only ever visit by a Ka class to Gisborne, 942 is heading the Mainline Steam NZ Tour train near the Waikoau Viaduct, first of 5 steel viaducts 200' or higher on this line. Sadly, this was last steam trip over the entire line with the closure of the Napier-Gisborne section in 2012.
Mainline Steam Heritage Trust operates steam specials throughout New Zealand from depots in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Each year an inter-island Steam Tour attracts fans from around the world. For more visit www.mainlinesteam.co.nz
