Rio Grande's Midvale Tramp slowly descends the 1.7% grade of the Bingham Branch at the old West Jordan Sugar Factory. Today's train includes box cars of copper concentrate and tank cars of sulphuric acid from Kennecott Copper in Magna, three loads of ballast (mill slag) from Smelter, and one empty bulkhead flat retrieved at Davidson Lumber in West Jordan. This right of way now belongs to UTA where the double track Red Line light rail TRAX route was constructed, opening in August 2010. The old sugar factory structures and silos were demolished in 2010 with tall concrete sound walls added along the right of way.
