Remarks & Notes |
The ACW 600 crew had an unusual day when this car pulled apart as they were pulling an 88 car unit of corn up the Aberdeen hill. The center sill had a large old break that was improperly repaired. There were a few patches on the failed section but either they were not attached to the car or the welds did not have enough penetration to provide anything more than the appearance of a repair. Once the weight of the train was on the hill the car, 5th from the head end, finally gave up and the "A" end was pulled from the car. Here ACWR mechanics look over the wreckage as Mid East vacuums the spilled corn. RP has me limited to one upload per day.
