Ten Alco Alligators slowly pull AT&SF's unit coal train around the loading loop at York Canyon, N.M. on May 9, 1967. After loading the train, five of the RSD-15s will be placed back in the train about 2/3rds of the way from the head end for the journey to Kaiser, Calif. Santa Fe's long distance unit coal train service predated CB&Q's and BN's Powder River by at least a dozen years. The coal supply at York Canyon played out in April, 2003 and the branch was closed.
