Remarks & Notes |
Former British Railways class EM2 Co-Co electric loco No 1504 departs from Hook of Holland with the 'Rheingold' express for Germany and Switzerland while NS 1300 class No 1312 waits with the 'Holland-Scandinavia Express' early of a dull May morning. Passengers travelling on these trains and the 'Loreley' express which is on the far left will have come over the North Sea from Harwich, Enlgland by ship, in this case the SS Avalon the funnel of which can be seen in the background. The NS bought the seven redundant BR EM2s and put six into service using the seventh as spare parts donor. The NS 1300 class were of French design very similar to the SNCF CC-7100 series. |
