On a cold winter's day in 2010, the afternoon passenger storms up the loess canyons in Baiyin. This scenic railway existed to serve a massive copper mine deep in these canyons, as well as the associated smelters and industries. Despite this industry, the passenger train was the highlight, for it was the last standard gauge revenue steam passenger in the world, existing to serve the villagers and workers of this area. Sadly, this line was finally dieselized in 2013.
