Remarks & Notes
DL locomotives 9417 and 9279 head train milk train to Fonterra Whareroa through Feilding. Built by Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock CNR Group in China, the DL locomotives are gradually displacing the GM and GE locomotives around the North Island. This train was usually hauled by two DX class GE U26C. With two DL locos there is over 7000Hp for the steep (1 in 35) and winding line ahead between Wanganui and Waverley.

Trains on 3' 6" (1.067m) track from Whangarei to Bluff with virtually heritage rebuilt EMD and GE locomotives still the mainstay power. The network was privatized in 1990's and operated by Toll until 2008 when state owned KiwiRail was established.
