On Amtrak Vermonter's northbound trip of November 24, the Amtrak P42 #153 collided with a fallen tree on the mainline near Claremont, New Hampshire. The locomotive suffered both cosmetic and mechanical issues that necessitated using one of the White River Junction local locomotives from New England Central for the remainder of the trip to St. Albans. That same unit would then lead the southbound Vermonter train #55 on November 25, as seen at Windsor, Vermont.
