Remarks & Notes |
Class 37 Diesels, 37-048 & 37-088, are seen here approaching the Ilfracombe Station Crossing on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast, having just left Umkomaas late on a winter afternoon with a load of empty Type STJ Wagons (Timber Wagons) and are bound for Bayhead in Durban. One hundred of these Class 37 diesels were placed in service in South Africa during 1981 and 1982. They were designed by General Motors Electro Motive Division as type GT26M2C, and were built by General Motors South Africa.
