On June 19, 1993, a quartet of clean GP60s emerge from the Thistle Tunnels leading SP's Oakland to Denver Forwarder. Ten years earlier, much of this landscape was submerged beneath Thistle Lake while the D&RGW built a new right of way above water. The grade from the original D&RGW alignment is at left above old US Highway 6.
