While skiers enjoy the slopes of Winter Park, the Rio Grande Ski Train heads further west to turn on the wye at Tabernash, then waits in the siding at Fraser, Colorado, until it is time to head back to Denver. At the appointed time, the Ski Train departs Fraser and heads up the grade to Winter Park to pick up a trainload of tired skiers. Today, because of a failing F40PH in the consist, Southern Pacific EMD SD40R No. 7323 takes the lead as the train curves out of Fraser on the afternoon of February 16, 2002.
