An aging star, at one time the biggest, coming out of retirement attracts throngs of paparazzi! The hundreds of onlookers in attendance watch as Union Pacific 1996 begins to roll Big Boy 4014 out of its home for the last 52 years and back onto active rail in the wee hours of the morning (in order to minimize disruptions to trains on Metrolink's busiest line). At nearly 2:00 am on January 26th, the behemoth was backed out of the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds (Fairplex) to begin a short journey to UP's West Colton Yard, where further evaluation and preparations will be made to this 1941-built Alco steamer.
