A long eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe intermodal train rumbles through Lombard, Montana, on September 4, 1998. The BN SD40-2-led train is curving underneath the abandoned Milwaukee Road Pacific Extension main line bridge over the Missouri River. Lombard once had two railroad stations, a post office, general store, school, hotel and numerous residences to support the rail activity there.
