"RVL Visitor" There are several unusual things about this Raritan Valley Line train. First, there is a locomotive on each end; NJT 4801 is on the west end per common practice, but 4216 appears on the east end where there would typically be only a cab car. Second, it is not typical for a GP40PH-2 to be assigned to an RVL train at this time; PL42ACs are most common, with an occasional P40DC thrown in the mix. This will change very soon as "dual mode" ALP-45DP units cycle in for handling off-peak direct service to New York City in March 2014. Finally, it is also not typical to find a GP40PH-2 hauling multi-level cars due to their excessive weight and the limited horsepower of a GP40. All of this plus the snow (and missing number board) keep things interesting!
