Remarks & Notes |
The pairs of SD50's and 60's that replaced the C628's didn't always work out so well as this shot attests. At lunch hour the 6539 that had been working the Dumper Job headed up to Brampton to rescue this loaded train that had suffered a unit failure. Not much of a shot due to the high sun but it captures the essence of the era right after the demise of the Alco fleet. The SD50's and 60's were soon enough replaced by trios of SD40-2's so the CNW was right back to using three units on the ore jobs north of Escanaba and the unit reduction idea turned out to be a failure. |
