I doubt if I've ever seen such an exhibition of uphill power from Scots Guardsman. Not only was it a quite wonderful spectacle to behold, but the sound as the train approached was arguably even better! The locomotive was still to be heard a full ten minutes after it passed my location, the exhaust echoing from the Cumbrian hillsides in a majesty of aural splendour! Am I waxing lyrical? You bet'cha I am!
