"The Great Locomotive Chase." Engineer J.B. "Bret" Bane and Fireman Taylor Rush extract every bit of horsepower they can out of their 99 year-old Heisler, in an effort to keep their spacing ahead of Eric Wunz in Mikado #19, who is loafing along in the "company notch" with a 9-car mixed train. The two trains are setting up for sequential photo run-bys as part of a February, 2014 Lerro Productions Charter, and both crews are producing the awesome plumes that photographers crave. The Heisler is normally a finicky machine when it comes to producing any kind of plume, but not today. The frosty cold temperatures are making the crew's job easy. The Sumpter Valley is one of the few heritage railroads that can actually assemble two, authentic, steam-powered freights....and still leave some of their stuff in the yard. These folks have a nice selection of rolling stock.
