| It's a cold, dark & damp "gloom and doom" Sunday morning. Not so great for inspiration to roll out of the sack at 06:00am to go shoot a Heritage unit. But the "Southern" NS 8099 has always been a favorite of mine and this handsome unit is making it's round two return to my neck of the woods in upstate NY this time on point of CP/NS haulage train 22K/#934. The big 7300ft train is seen storming the sharp curve around by the long abandoned prop of the D&H Coal Company after the crew met a southbound CP #939 at CPF526 at Richmondville Summit. It's been so unseasonably cold here this spring in that the foliage is a good week and a half behind. Just a graze of sun popped out of the thick low clouds as the big intermodal sped by the small huddled photo line on this historical old railroad. Colorful hodgepodge consists lately have been norm this year on the CP/D&H with a lot of run-thru foreign power sprinkled with an occasional NS Heritage gem. |
