Remarks & Notes |
The Union Pacific schemed SD70ACEs are a personal favorite of mine of the various western ACE models that have visited NY State such as the BNSF or KCS now employed in the massive ethanol and oil pool nation wide. If you happen to get a clean one trackside such as the UP 8739 seen here it's always a photogenic plus. Of course on this afternoon, moody low clouds of a warm front battled the pop out sun making a bright catch a challenge as the crew began their late afternoon trek for Jersey out of Selkirk Yard. I managed to get one keeper of this K636 as he briefly held near the Route 144 crossing(the future sight of the cp-125/cp-124 crossovers interlocking) for traffic ahead. Of all the ACEs on CSXT, the spiffy UP model is perhaps the most elusive next to the Ferromex colors to catch on point on the 132 mile CSXT River Sub. It was a treat and fitting to see the old glory colors on the start of a Memorial Day Weekend.
