On 19th & 20th May, five of the first ten Class 20E dual voltage 3kV DC / 25kV AC electric locomotives, built in China by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., a subsidiary of the China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation (CSR), worked a test train of 104 type CR ore wagons overnight from Warrenton to the Arcelor Mittal steelworks in Vanderbijlpark. The return working with 104 empties ran in daylight and is seen here making its way from Bijlcor yard towards the junction at Houtheuwel.
Classes 7E, 9E, 11E, 14E, 15E, 19E, 20E and 21E.
7E & 11E are 25kv AC locos. 9E & 15E are 50kv AC locos and the remainder are dual-voltage (25kv AC & 3kv DC).
