Remarks & Notes |
Here is a case study of "early bird getting the worm" I guess. After this amazing consist arrived in the rain from the west yesterday to Selkirk Yard, hopes were dim in when it would head south in good lighting conditions. As fate would have it an early morning crew was assigned to the train and it left Selkirk shortly after dawn as the sun attempted to breach the departing front. Thanks to a tip, I was able to leave the house and set up in time at my favorite morning curve at Cementon. The former Milwaukee Road rebuild DME 6370 is no stranger to my viewfinder having brought down another rare beast with the INDR SD90MAC43 on a K636-01 back on January 5th. I could hear the distinctive EMDs thunder at track speed down the valley as they stormed through Alsen with those mid-western horns echoing off the shale bluffs as he rounded the corner only nanoseconds from full sunlight. Just as quickly the 81 car tanker was gone again and I knew chasing was pretty much out of the question.
