Remarks & Notes |
A Canadian Pacific coal train is well underway loading all 100+ cars at Teck’s Greenhills operation. It has taken approximately forty five minutes to load the first fiften cars as coal is loaded from the large silo into each car while the train creeps along at 0.3 miles per hour. Once exiting the silo the coal loads are sprayed with latex to limit the coal dust to a minimum on its journey to the Pacific Ocean. This is one of four mines Canadian Pacific serves on the 32.6 mile long Fording River Sub, which connects to the Cranbrook Sub at Sparwood. There is a fifth mine located 30 kilometers southeast of Sparwood which is accessed off the 10 mile long Byron Creek Sub which also connects with the Cranbrook Sub at Fabro. |
