| An aggregate train is tied down on the siding at "Rock Cut" just east of Summit Street in Akron. WE 3046 is a somewhat historic unit. It was built in 1965 as EMD 434G, an SD40X demonstrator (prototype SD40) assembled on an SD35 frame. It was later rebuilt by the Wheeling to SD40-3 standards, but certain "SD35" spotting features remain, including the fuel tank and short frame. |
