Dubbed "the Armadillo" by local railfan Dave Styffe, the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is looking more complete these days (as seen here on August 4th, 2014), which is good as it is due to open before the end of 2014. The ARTIC project is a partnership between the City of Anaheim and the Orange County Transportation Authority that, once opened, will serve as an intermodal hub for several transit modes such as Amtrak, Metrolink, local and international bus, shuttles, bikes/pedestrians, Anaheim Rapid Connection, High-Speed Rail, and the proposed California-Nevada Maglev. The station will be 67,000 square feet in size, and is located between Angel Stadium and the Honda Center, the homes of Anaheim’s two sports franchises (MLB’s Angels and NHL’s Ducks). Trains are accessed via the elevated walkway at the far end of the building. For an earlier view, click HERE.
