Remarks & Notes |
Ab 608 was built by NZR Addington (Christchurch) in 1915 and named "Passchendaele" in 1925 as a War Memorial for the fallen railwaymen in that battle of WW1. It is now owned by NZ Railway & Locomotive Society who restored it for the centenary. On loan to Steam Incorporated, this was the first excursion after restoration. Assisting is DA 1431 (EMD G12A) built by Clyde Engineering in NSW in 1957 for NZ Railways. It was sold to Steam Incorporated in 1988. The train bound for ski town of Ohahune is departing Levin prior to Ab 608 being taken off at Palmerston North. |
