Standard gauge cogwheel steamlocomotive Eh 2/2 # 3 "ROSA" is shoving her train with open summer cars B5 and B7 and B12 up the mountain from Rorschach to Heiden, on a grade of 9.4 %, with Lake Constance (Bodensee) in the background. The locomotive is owned and operated by Eurovapor Sulgen and running on the 6.16 kilometer long Rorschach-Heiden-Bergbahn (part of Appenzeller Bahnen today) since 1997. The cogwheel locomotive was built in 1951 by the SLM Winterthur for the machine works Rüti ZH, which had an about 100 meter short cogwheel track from the factory down in the valley up to the station of Rüti (ZH). When not needed any more, the locomotive was donated to Eurovapor for a new life.
