Remarks & Notes |
I always wanted to get a decent afternoon train at this location. Trouble is even during the summer months it has a very narrow window of opportunity. The light is either too high or the shadows too long depending on what time of the afternoon a southbound may arrive through Alsen. Often the trains take the main(near track) rather than the more favorable siding(far) track. A large garish orange construction barrel(not shown on left) even furthers the challenge. Everything seemed to fall into place when this three unit BNSF powered big oil showed up around 14:45hrs and took the siding past CP-106. The BNSF H2 leader had a delightful sweet horn as a lot of these C44-9Ws do in this class. I remember this was a stellar stretch of summer weather that blessed the region during mid-August-a time that was usually very hot, hazy and unbearably humid. Today felt more like a crisp September day. A great train on a great day and it honestly was a last minute grab shot! |
