| On a cold Autumn Day, with the sun shining I hike down to the Black Marsh to capture this one of a kind picture as we see the SMS NE-1 Mainline Local service returning east with eight carloads of shingles for a big roofing shingle distribution center in the North East Industrial Park in Guilderland,NY. SMS Rail Operates through out the week on the Former D&H Voorheesville Runner between the Industrial Park and Delanson, NY where they interchange with the Canadian Pacific Railway. This is the west end of the Line from Voorheesville Junction to Delanson. The East end of the line on the other side of the Junction has been torn up to the Port of Albany. At the Junction in Voorheesville the D&H Crossed the New York Central but now that's a distant scene of railroads past.
Here we see the Mainline local NE-1 slowly making its way through the Black Marsh Swamp just to the south of the park with the SLRS 4212 leading the charge. |
