Remarks & Notes |
The pride of the fleet! These three wreck-damaged motors were involved in the most recent Popes Creek derailment. After massive rains they ordered a loaded B803 coal train to go down the Creek (without inspecting its full length) and they made it to just about Milepost 3 before eating into the dirt. The derailment site is a thick marsh area and has been the site of several derailments in the past. As logic would have it, running 3 motors and 80 loads of coal over an over-saturated marsh resulted in a massive pileup. Note the rail stabbed through the front of the nose, it made it to within a mere few feet of puncturing through the control stand.
After sitting for numerous weeks these motors were dragged to Cumberland for evaluation and repair where possible.
