Remarks & Notes
My personal favourite class of diesel loco on British Rail is the class 55 Deltic. 22 were built for express passenger work on the East coast main line. They retired at the start of 1982. However, in 1999 Virgin Trains was hiring D9000 for a regular Birmingham to Ramsgate train on summer Saturdays. It is seen here on Saltley depot in Birmingham on a Tuesday in 1999.
