Remarks & Notes |
Pilot, Nevada is the second siding in Nevada west of the Utah/Nevada state line on the Union Pacific Shafter sub. It is on the westward climb to Silver Zone Pass and is also the site of a large limestone quarry. This quarry is served nearly daily by UP’s Wendover Local; LUE51 westbound and LUE50 eastbound. The local is seen here after switching empty’s for loads at the quarry’s loader and getting ready to depart east back to Wendover yard and eventually Salt Lake City. Rising above the train is the waste rock dump of the Pilot Quarry. |
