Remarks & Notes
Breakfast time, St. Johnsbury & Lamoille County's "Saint J" turn has eased out of the small yard and crossed the CP main, to begin the return trip to Morrisville, VT. August 1972 is the Sam Pinsly era. The GE 70 tonners are gone. Covered Bridges have been replaced, in order to post the higher axel loadings, needed to accommodate heavier locomotives and loaded freight cars. This train has cars received in interchange from both Canadian Pacific and Maine Central. Bridge traffic from the MEC, to be relayed west to Central Vermont, is especially important to profit margins on a road, rich only in history and scenery.
