Tragically, on June 21st 2010, Friends of the Rail's newly restored class 15F No 3117, derailed just a few meters short of her destination of Cullinan. The cause of the derailment was due to sleeper theft of several wooden sleepers in the cutting - which the driver did not see till it was too late. Fortunately there were no fatalities nor series injuries, and most importantly, no fatal damages to 3117. No. 3117 currently resides at Friends of the Rail's depot in Capitol Park, Pretoria - awaiting funds for restoration.
