Transnet Freight Rail have imported 34 ex Queensland Railway locomotives. This is No. 2270 being craned off the BBC Ohio in Durban this morning. It is believed that the locomotives will be refurbished by TFR and deployed to the Bloemfontein area for local service. UPDATE: Commentary / hearsay has changed a bit - It is now believed that 20 of the locomotives will be refurbished by Transnet Engineering. These 20 will then be marketed to other African countries. The remaining 14 will be retained by TFR and deployed to work on the line between Bethlehem and Kroonstad.
