The Class 20E dual voltage 3kV DC / 25kV AC electric locomotives, built in China by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., a subsidiary of the China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation (CSR), are Transnet Freight Rail's newest addition to their fleet. Three of the class are seen here at Raathsvlei on the Houtheuwel - Potchefstroom link line while on a driver training run out of Leeuhof depot in Vereeniging. Loco 20 010 is the last of the batch of 10 built in China. Units 20 011 to 20 025 were assembled from knock down kits at Transnet Engineering's (TE) Koedoespoort works in Pretoria. The bodies for the rest of the class from 20 026 upwards will be built by TE from locally manufactured components.
Classes 7E, 9E, 11E, 14E, 15E, 19E, 20E and 21E.
7E & 11E are 25kv AC locos. 9E & 15E are 50kv AC locos and the remainder are dual-voltage (25kv AC & 3kv DC).
