Essex is a lonely spot in California's Mojave Desert, on the former Santa Fe mainline between Los Angeles and Chicago. BNSF Railway train S-CLOSCO1-01A, powered by the typical assortment of ES44DCs and Dash 9-44CWs (in this case, 7905, 5265 and 4411), could be seen for miles as it approached Essex on its way from Clovis, New Mexico to Thenard, California.
