Tough winter day on the Kyle—14 Flying blind through the snow, a Kyle plow extra gets its “eyes” from a railroad vehicle following the train on the adjoining highway as in this view west of Edson, Kansas. There is no way for the crew to see much ahead of the giant blades of the plow, let alone with all the white stuff flying around. The pacing truck lets the crew know what is ahead and how much snow is in each cut, and how much effort will be required to move it. Over 30 inches of snow fell with this storm that Kyle plow MWK 06 is removing from the right-of-way on January 2, 2007.
