As TFR's new locomotive orders begin to be filled, so the class 6E1 to 18E rebuild programme at Transnet Engineering's Koedoespoort workshops is being wound down. This is the number 2 end of one of the very newest 18E's, 18 813, with the blanked out window clearly visible where the toilet has been fitted. While the 6E1's were dual cab units, the 18E's have a single driving cab and are rarely seen working alone. Taken with permission during a Railway Society of Southern Africa group visit.
