After her brief career on the Southern Rwy Steam Program, former C&O Kanawha 2716 sat in Birmingham, AL and was eventually brought up to Indiana and restored in 1995 to her original C&O appearance. Contrary to popular belief, the firebox problems that plagued 2716 during her Southern tenure were in fact repaired during her 1995 rebuild. In 1996 the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society ran a couple weekend trips out of Logansport, IN on the TP&W. An FRA flue time extension was not granted and 2716 was returned to her owners, the Kentucky Railway Museum in 2001.
