A Southern Pacific coal load climbs the steep Tennessee Pass Subdivision a mile or two below the summit on a sunny March 29, 1997 afternoon. The 100 car train had three AC4400CWs on the point, four cut in as manned helpers and two more on the rear. Gotta love mountain railroading above 10,000 feet!
The reason railpictures.net has captured my imagination for so many years. Images of quality and distinction, in other words, amazing railroad photography.
