KCT Train 112 has been tasked with dumping a pair of GREX Dump Train loads of ballast next to the KCT Coburg Lead, Track 243 today near 12th Street. The ballast will be used throughout the spring on the KCT for capital improvement projects. 243 Track is Ex-BNSF, originally a Frisco line to Springfield, MO, and is used by the KCT to serve daily customers Reload Central, Aspen Products, and International Paper in Eastern Kansas City. This ballast train operated at BNSF Train U CHEKCM8 28B from Cheyenne, WY to Kansas City, MO. Passing our train on the parallel UP KC Metro Sub. is a coal load, UP Train 2CCDSA9 03.
It is highly unlikely (but not impossible) that six axle locomotives were ever used on this line, but these big engines here are definitely a rare sight nowadays.
