For whatever reason, UP Train AAMEW 28 left town with a GMTX GP38-2 leader followed by a pair of UP SD70M's. Whatever the reason, the crew's "luckiness" or what have you, it was sight for sore eyes. The train is pulling up close to the signal at CP Rosedale in order for the rear end to clear the crossing at Genesee Street over a mile behind.
GMTX 2250 was built as a GP38AC, DT&I 213 in April 1970, builder number 36336. It passed to the Grand Trunk Western as GTW 6213, and wound up in the Joint Venture EMD-GATX Locomotive Leasing Partners fleet as LLPX 2213 before getting GMTX markings last winter. It had been working various locals out of the Kansas City area, including Lawrence and Topeka, KS until ending up on this train.
